At WorkCentral, we get a front-row seat to all the unexpected, spark-filled moments that happen when talented people share the same space. This month, one of those moments turned into a full-blown collaboration — between two members whose careers couldn’t look more different on paper, but whose goals aligned perfectly over a cup of coffee.
David’s Novel Journey David is an attorney by trade, but anyone who’s seen him typing away in our quiet nook early in the morning knows he’s also a novelist at heart. After years of treating writing as a passion rather than a vocation, he finally completed his first book. With an upcoming writers’ conference on his calendar, he was ready to introduce his story to the world.
What he wasn’t ready for was the promotional side. How do you stand out when you’re surrounded by tables stacked high with books?
Scott Steps In
Just a few desks away, Scott was the perfect person to ask. He runs a business specializing in customized marketing products for conferences, events, and brand launches. Bookmarks, branded merch, clever giveaways that people actually want to keep — it’s his wheelhouse.
When Scott heard what David was working on, the gears started turning immediately. The two of them sat down and, in that classic WorkCentral way, ideas began to flow. They looked at David’s novel themes, characters, and tone and started crafting a set of conference giveaways that felt personal and genuinely memorable.
From custom bookmarks to pocket-sized pieces of character art and other themed items inspired by the story, Scott helped translate David’s fictional world into tangible, eye-catching materials.
A Creative Boost, Right When It Was Needed
The result? David didn’t just show up at the conference with a debut novel. He arrived with a cohesive, professional presence that set him apart and reflected the heart of his book. And he credits the polished look of his table to Scott’s creative instincts and industry expertise.
This Is What WorkCentral Is Built For
These are the moments we love most. Two members with totally different backgrounds. A casual conversation turning into a project. A passion becoming a little more real because the right collaborator was sitting just a few tables away.
At WorkCentral, the power of community isn’t theoretical. It’s bookmarks, prototypes, brainstorms, mutual cheering, and those easy conversations that turn into something bigger.
Here’s to David, to Scott, and to all the cross-industry collaborations still waiting to happen at WorkCentral.
